DVD Shrink 3.2 freeware

18 Jan

(Region Free) .

DVD Shrink :

Region Free.

Backup!”

ISO Image File”

Region Free.

Fix the MBR in Windows XP

16 Mar

Boot from the windows XP CD, press the “R” key in the setup in order to start the restoration console. Select your windows XP installation from the list, and enter the administrator password.
Enter the command: “FIXMBR” (without the quotes) at the input prompt and confirm the next question with a “Y” (without the quotes). Use exit to restore the computer.

I had to use this on a PC that I had corrupted the MBR with by using a boot manager.

Worked perfectly. This may have been posted before, and if so, forgive me. If not, now you know how to repair your MBR. By the way MBR stands for Master Boot Record. THis procedure kind of replaced Fdisk I think.

Spyware, adware hide in BitTorrent downloads

16 Jun

By Joris Evers, CNET News.com
Published on ZDNet News: June 16, 2005, 7:12 PM PT

BitTorrent users, beware: Your download may include adware and spyware.
Purveyors of the applications that produce pop-up ads on PC screens and track browsing habits have discovered BitTorrent as a new distribution channel. According to observers of the trend, videos and music that hide adware and spyware are increasingly being offered for download on various BitTorrent Web sites.

BitTorrent has grown into one of the most widely used means of downloading files such as movies or software. Unlike peer-to-peer networks such as Kazaa, eDonkey and the original Napster, no central search technology exists for BitTorrent. Instead, links to specific files are posted on Web sites.

Tigermilk

16 May

Bugs.

Let your Windows XP to drink a cup of Tigermilk. Then your system will become a little tiger.
Recently, I have a new PC (P4 3.4 GB 512RAM) for that testing.
I do enjoy the Tigermilk. I like the program of Dock.
Alought, the expose still has bugs.

I’ve installed and uninstalled that. Tigermilk do not have any big problems.
If you do not have enough money to raise a tiger, you should let your WindowsXP to drink the Tigermilk.

Enjoy~

Group Policy Edit – Snap-in failed to initialize

16 Feb

When I try to edit a Group Policy object, I get the “Snap-in failed to initialize” error.

Cause: This may be happen if Group Policy cannot find framedyn.dll.

Solution: If you use installation scripts, make sure that your scripts place the %windir%\system32\wbem directory in the system path. By default, %windir%\system32\wbem is in the system path already; therefore, you are not likely to encounter this issue if you do not use installation scripts.

Gates: IE7 to Debut Before Longhorn

15 Feb

By Nate Mook, BetaNews
February 15, 2005, 1:17 PM

UPDATED Reversing its plans not to release a new version of Internet Explorer independent from Windows, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates now says IE 7.0 will debut before Longhorn. At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Gates acknowledged that IE had become a security risk and promised a beta of IE7 will be available this summer for Windows XP SP2.

The update will include new anti-spyware features, and likely draw on Microsoft’s recent acquisitions of security companies GIANT and Sybari.

IE Usage Falls Again, Firefox Gains

24 Jan

By Ed Oswald, BetaNews
January 21, 2005, 10:08 AM

Use of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser has fallen for the seventh straight month, and the decline is beginning to accelerate, according to new data from research firm WebSideStory. Usage of IE stood at 90.3 percent, a one month decrease of 1.5 percent. Meanwhile, Firefox usage rose nearly a full percentage point to 5 percent of the market.

WebSideStory also showed gains in Apple’s Safari browser and Opera Software’s flagship browser. The original Mozilla browser showed some weakness, falling slightly since December.

Other browser usage surveys, however, show Internet Explorer to have already fallen below 90 percent. Rival OneStat.com in November said IE’s share stood at 88.9 percent. OneStat.com at that time pegged Firefox usage at 4.58 percent.

Although Microsoft could not immediately be reached for comment, officials at the company have repeatedly stated to the media that they are not concerned about Mozilla’s Firefox.

In a November 2004 interview with BetaNews, Gary Schare, Director of Windows Product Management at Microsoft, said that Firefox’s “free ride” was over. “We think that getting the first set of early adopters is a lot easier than getting the next set, and then crossing over into the mainstream is pretty difficult,” he said.
